If your question is more like, hey, what's a good bfs start up that work well and not break the bank in case I don't like it or can't find usage or bfs fishing... Then I would recommend the Ark Gravity bfs reel, Tsurinoya Dragon casting rod of your choice, and 0.6 to 0.8 gou Varivas 4 PE line. Then you can tie any leader between 4 to 8 lbs of your choice and have a blast! Tip, spool only half way it you plan to cast sub 1 gram on UL

@@9mmbeater not really. There's so many cons for spinning reels. If you cant name em, then this is just another biased comment. I can give 3 reasons easily why I choose bfs reels over spinning for short distance fishing.

@@StonerCreek74 there's many reasons. Bait casters are more efficient as you use less movements to complete a cast. For short distance casting, you will end up casting way more times end of the day than a spinning reel. Spinning reels also got issues. They create line twists for slack line fishing, some light lures also suffers from line twists on spinning for that reason as there's not enough tension as you reel in. This is not a problem with Baitcasting reels. Not to mention, BFS reels are generally faster and it's lighter.

@rawrfishing I usually have 5-6 baitcasters as well as 5-6 spinning setups with me when I hit the water as each one has different lures. With the spinning having soft plastics and lighter lures or drop shot rigs etc. While the baitcasters have cranks, spooks, spinner baits, etc. I just always go with the spinning combo if using lighter lures. Also, I use high-end lines and install it a certain way, so I really don't have any issues with line twists. I suppose each to their own and what works for them.

Yes but you do know there are baitcasting setups to cast lighter lures? Some folks simply don't know they exist. Unless I need the distance or I need the most smooth drag ever... I personally will never use a spinning setup.

@@rawrfishing ok I think you should use a spinning real for small light lures because it causes less headaches, you can’t backlash and for a bait casting reel I use one for heavier lures, so I’m not biased on either one I use both

That sounds like a personal issue tho, back lashing is due to lack of skill and knowledge of tackle. Thus should not be a reason for OTHERS just because that is someone else's issue. BFS reels are way more efficient Than spinning reels, especially for short distance casting. I can cast many more times than a spinning person by the end of the day, which means I have more opportunities to hook up a fish. BFS reels are also lighter, making it less fatigue so anglers can fish longer and less stressful. Spinning reels also causes line twists for light lures, especially when fishing slack line. Baitcasting reels does not generate that twist, unless the lure naturally does!

They are definitely great lures for many reasons! I stopped using em cuz swimbaits are better bites... But grubs still work!

@@ismaelvallejo6832 hmmm... are you currently having trouble with the lures now with the stock spool? Shimano advertised this reel to handle 1 gram. While I feel it's not good at 1 gram, this reel definitely made it a bit better. But I think you should watch my cast testing video and see if it's something that may help you and your fishery. Im my opinion, there's better reels to handle sub 1 gram, but if it's slightly above 1 gram and heavier, stock spool can do it already

@@rawrfishing my heaviest lure is 1.1g but I throw a lot of 1.5g an I just can get any distance or accuracy. Maybe it’s just a practice thing. My distance and accuracy throwing 2.5g is exceptional. My rod is an ultralight 6’3” and I’m using .6 gou 8lb braid. I really appreciate the response!

Potentially your Tension set too high or brakes are set too high. Their silent tune o ring makes it difficult for one to adjust the tension properly as one can't tell how loose the spool is. But try loosening it. There's other reels that casts better than this reel, like the Ark Gravity bfs reel. No matter what upgrade for the Conquest, ark still wins as stock for lures that are light
